HGCheck – The program purpose
The interactive application HGCheck (Hypertension Guideline Check) was developed for clinical practice in supporting treatment of hypertensive patients according to the current guideline recommendations. It is based on the 2013 ESH/ESC Guidelines for the management of arterial hypertension.
The antihypertensive treatment initiation and intensity for an individual patient depends - in addition to the grade of arterial hypertension - on further cardiovascular risk factors demonstrated in the program. By specifying the conditions of patients filling information and individual recommendations are provided.

How to use it:
After entering patient data such as gender, age and blood pressure, followed by risk factors and possible diseases, the program provides it results in a stratification table specification and evaluation of the overall risk and the guideline recommendations of antihypertensive treatment. Behind the highlighted risk button (“more...”) to read more details.
Common recommendations of treatment strategies and drug combinations are given and can be detailed.
To learn about especially preferred or contraindicated drugs for specific patient, further conditions can be checked behind the related label. A resulting drug-table helps to assess the best drug choice.
Please consider: The guidelines give recommendations of risk and treatment just for the initiation of antihypertensive therapy. If this patient has already been treated the program provides some hints relating to the current blood pressure under therapy and indicates contraindications and preferred drugs.
Handouts for patients can be generated (PDF) and printed.
If you want to give a handout to your patient, click the Report-Button. The generated document includes the most important data, the cardiovascular risk and recommendations of lifestyle measures.

The integrated QUICK GUIDE is for a more detailed description of the application.
